The Big Ten celebrated the newest additions to the conference Friday with the release of an updated version of its well-known “Maps” commercial.

In the video posted on its X account, the Big Ten highlighted the arrival of former Pac-12 schools Washington, Oregon, UCLA and USC:

The original “Maps” commercial was show in 2014, and the new version is both an homage and an improvement:

The Big Ten will be an 18-team conference starting with the 2024 college football season, as the former Pac-12 schools join Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

While the Big Ten previously spanned only from the midwest to the east coast, it now stretches across the entire country with the addition of four west-coast programs.

The Big Ten was already considered an elite conference in football, especially on the heels of Michigan going undefeated and winning the national championship last season.

It is even deeper now, though, thanks to the arrival of last year’s national runner-up in Washington, as well as three other schools that have enjoyed enormous success over the years.

Although rivalries in college sports are often predicated on geography, the Big Ten will aim to challenge that notion in 2024 and beyond.

The possibility now exists for new rivalries such as Washington vs. Michigan, Oregon vs. Ohio State and USC vs. Penn State to emerge, which is an exciting prospect for college football.

Aug. 29 will mark the first day Big Ten teams are in action during the 2024 season, while the first conference game of the campaign will be played between Michigan State and Maryland.
