Footage appears to show Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Farid Basharat engaging in a post-UFC 304 brawl

In the aftermath of UFC 304, Alexander Volkanovksi claimed he attempted to separate a scrap, and it appears Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Farid Basharat were the two men involved.

Explosive footage appears to show the two fighters at loggerheads while the former featherweight world champion and several members of security try to split them up.

Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Farid Basharat allegedly filmed attempting to have a fight

Last Saturday, UFC 304 delivered brutality as Tom Aspinall rendered Curtis Blaydes unconscious to retain the interim world title.

The major bout caught the attention of Alexander Volkanovksi, who flew across the world to catch it live.

Once it ended, he headed back to his hotel in order to catch up with some much-needed sleep. However, in a video uploaded to his YouTube page, he claimed he witnessed two men engage in fisticuffs.

The 145-pound legend opted not to reveal the identities of the pair of individuals, but explained that they were going above and beyond to get at each other, forcing him to try and step in.

The 35-year-old said that he attempted to grab hold of one of the individuals, but failed, with the supposed brawler slipping out of his grasp before running at his target.

Now, a video that seems to back up the Australian’s version of events has come to light.

The footage, uploaded by Casuals Corner, appears to show Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Farid Basharat trying to get at one another, with security desperately struggling to hold the Afghan-English fighter back.

Utilizing his speed, Basharat appears to get around everyone, forcing Volkanovski to go for a single leg. Despite his best efforts, the bantamweight looks to evade the former pound-for-pound number one, before leaving another security guard in the dust.

In the end, the situation is handled, and Basharat looks to leave the building. The UFC has yet to make any statement or confirm the identities of the men involved in the squabble.

What exactly did Alexander Volkanovski say?

In a testament to his honesty, it seems the ex-featherweight champion gave an accurate description of events.

In his video, he explained: “I don’t know if I should even bring it up. I don’t know; maybe I won’t bring it up. You guys are gonna hate me for that. I won’t say who was involved, but I’ll tell you a little bit.”

He continued, “Something happened in the lobby between two guys. One was a fighter; I don’t know if the other guy was a fighter. I don’t think he was random, but stuff happened.

“There might have been a little punch thrown. The other guy tried to get to him. Security tried to stop it. I’m like, ‘It’s not worth it, it’s not worth the cops’. I’m trying to stop it.”

“Guys were stepping and getting around all the security guards. I was trying to help, but he stepped around me as well. I’m like, ‘This guy has got some good movement’.”

Volkanovski continued: “He’s going again. I’m trying to tell him to ‘chill out’. Again, he’s come on; I’ve tried to grab him. We almost ran into the bottom of the stairs, so we sort of went down. I fell to my knees. As I’m trying to hold him, he slipped out. I was like, ‘This guy is very slippery’.

“There would have been a few security guards trying to stop him, he just found his way around, even I was falling off him. I don’t know if there will be footage of that coming out, so I’m not going to say any names.

“But if they do, you might see that. It’s pretty funny. See if there’s footage out there. If there’s not, you’ll never know who it is, and I’m sorry. I’m thinking, ‘nah’, I’m not going to say any names. Sorry guys, I’m going to get in trouble.”
