Tominaga, who was born and raised in Japan, came to the United States to play basketball for Ranger College in 2019 before transferring to Nebraska in 2021. He starred for the NCAA tournament-bound Cornhuskers last year, averaging 15.1 points per game.
Like Curry, Tominaga has a penchant for shooting threes, making 75 of them for the Cornhuskers last season. He also won the men’s college hoops three-point contest last April in Phoenix.
Tominaga’s college tenure is over after finishing his senior year, and he’ll look to play professionally soon enough.
Before then, he’s about to get noticed on the international stage after leading Japan to an Olympic berth. Japan got there after an 80-71 win over Cape Verde last September in the FIBA World Cup. Tominaga scored 22 points.
He’s previously represented Japan in the Olympics, notably playing 3×3 basketball in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics as well.
Ultimately, Tominaga got noticed this year for his three-point shooting and gregarious personality. Now the new Curry Brand star could attract even more attention this summer in Paris.
