The Blazers earlier this month hosted Filipowski for a workout, during which NBA.com’s Casey Holdahl reported the big man was focused on showing Portland that the 34.8 shooting rate he marked from behind the arc in 2023-24 is sustainable in the NBA.
“I’m glad to be able to show how well I think I can shoot the three, how well I can just pass the ball, how I scan the floor and read the court with the spacing,” Filipowski said after the workout, per Holdahl.
If Filipowski was able to prove his three-point consistency, the Blazers could decide to target him in order to add some much-needed shooting from deep. Portland ranked last in the NBA in shooting from behind the arc last season, so the prospect of adding a big man who can shoot could drive the Blazers to target Filipowski if he slips down as low as No. 40.
