Halftime: USA 55, South Sudan 36
An impressive performance from Team USA, which appears motivated after nearly losing to this same South Sudan squad in an exhibition game. The defense has been unreal, especially that of the second unit led by Bam Adebayo, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday.
Adebayo has been the standout so far with 14 points, including two corner 3s that had Adebayo’s former teammate Dwyane Wade shouting “Bamonte!” on the USA broadcast.
Nuni Omot has 13 to lead South Sudan. Carlik Jones, the Black Stars’ top player, has just seven points on 2-7 shooting.
