No. 25 ranked Sadiq White Jr. commits to Syracuse

Sadiq White Jr., the No. 25 overall recruit in the 2025 class, has committed to Red Autry and the Syracuse Orange, he tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-8, 185-pound power forward out of Charlotte (N.C.) chose Syracuse over other programs including Alabama, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee, Texas and USC amongst others.

“Just the genuine relationship that they had,” White Jr. said of why he chose Syracuse. “They have’t missed a game all year both AAU and high school. They were there for every big moment for me this season. They gave me input on how they can see me getting better, how I can grow in their system and just trying to make me a pro and get me to the next level.”

White Jr. took a visit to Syracuse in the fall and his time with the staff and on campus left a lasting impression, leaving him with the feeling that it was home for him.

“Coach Red, coach Brenden [Straughn] built just a genuine relationship,” he continued. “They called and talked to me all of the time about the little stuff outside of basketball – just life. That was pretty much it. On my visit, it just seemed they have the things that I can thrive there.”

White Jr. is a talented and versatile forward with explosive athleticism that makes for one of the top defenders in the entire country but has also been expanding his offensive skillset, capable of catching lobs, attacking in straight lines and making the occasional jumper.

“Just my game,” he said of what he will bring to the program. “I am a winner. I will do whatever it takes to win. Let’s bring the old Syracuse back. We need to hang more banners.”

White Jr. is the first commitment in the 2025 class for Syracuse and just the second Top 25 recruit to make his decision.
