Stars vs. Oilers schedule: Edmonton climbs out of 2-0 hole to win Game 4 over Dallas

The Edmonton Oilers turned the tables on the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final. After blowing a 2-0 lead in Game 3, the host Oilers climbed out of a 2-0 hole for a 5-2 win on Wednesday night.

The Oilers surrendered a goal to Stars forward Wyatt Johnston just 58 seconds after the opening puck drop, and they trailed 2-0 less than six minutes into the game. Staring down a 3-1 series deficit, Edmonton flipped a switch and got its offense churning.

Goals from Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard tied the game before the first period even ended, and the Oilers kept pouring it on in the second.

Edmonton’s penalty kill, which has now killed off 23 consecutive power plays, even generated some offense in this one. Following a blocked shot, Connor Brown fed Mattias Janmark on a 2-on-1, and Janmark punched a one-timer past Jake Oettinger to give the Oilers their first lead of the night at 3-2.

Just 51 seconds later, the Stars made the mistake of turning the puck over in the neutral zone, and Leon Drasaitl got to attack in transition. He made no mistake on a one-timer feed from Zach Hyman and buried his 10th goal of the playoffs to double Edmonton’s lead.

Connor McDavid added a pair of assists to his postseason total, bringing it to a whopping 23 in just 16 games. McDavid hasn’t been lighting the lamp as much in these playoffs, but he has still made his mark in a big way. McDavid has been facilitating for his teammates, and that was on display again in Game 4.

If the loss wasn’t bad enough news for the Stars, they also lost defenseman Chris Tanev to injury. Tanev blocked an Evander Kane shot off his foot in the second period and did not return to the game.

Tanev is the Stars’ top shutdown option on the blue line, and if he is out for an extended period, there will be a lot more time and space for Edmonton’s top forwards.

The Oilers and Stars will now travel back to Dallas for a monumental Game 5 clash on Friday night.
